Overview
A romantic week in the Kathmandu and Pokhara valleys. In Kathmandu you explore UNESCO-listed temples and stupas: Kathmandu Durbar Square, the historic seat of royalty, the 2000-year-old Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath with its golden roof and silver doors, Boudhanath, one of the largest stupas in the world, and the finely carved Patan Durbar Square. A night at Nagarkot (about 2200 m) brings sunrise views of the Himalaya including Everest on clear days, with a stop in medieval Bhaktapur on the way. You then fly to Pokhara to enjoy the serenity of Phewa Lake beneath Machhapuchhre, with a boat ride, Devi's Fall and Mahendra Cave.
