Overview
Haa is one of Bhutan's least-visited valleys, opened to tourism only in 2002. From Paro the road climbs to the Chele La (about 3990 m), the highest motorable pass in Bhutan, with prayer flags and, on clear days, views of Jomolhari and Jichu Drake, before dropping into Haa. In Haa you visit the Lhakhang Karpo and Lhakhang Nagpo, the White and Black temples said to date from the 7th century, walk through farming villages and can stay in a traditional farmhouse. The tour also includes Paro sightseeing and the hike to Tiger's Nest. Bhutan charges a Sustainable Development Fee of US$100 per person per night (rate confirmed through 31 August 2027), and all visitors travel with a licensed guide.
