Overview
This trek combines the Annapurna Circuit with Upper Mustang, joining natural beauty with rich cultural experiences. The Annapurna massif stretches 55 km and is separated from Dhaulagiri by the Kali Gandaki, the deepest gorge in the world. You follow the Marsyangdi valley through Jagat, Chame and Pisang to Manang, acclimatize, and cross the Thorong La (5514 m) to the pilgrimage center of Muktinath, revered by Hindus and Buddhists for its temples and eternal flame. From Kagbeni you enter the restricted Kingdom of Lo, walking past cliff caves, red gompas and wind-sculpted canyons via Chele, Ghami and Tsarang to the walled city of Lo Manthang near the Tibetan border, where an ancient mystique remains. Two days are spent exploring the monasteries around Lo Manthang before returning to Jomsom and flying out via Pokhara.
