Overview
Khopra Danda is a newly opened community-lodge trek in the Annapurna region that leaves the busy Ghorepani trail and offers equally remarkable views of the Himalayas, including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fang and Nilgiri. The route climbs from the Gurung village of Ghandruk through rhododendron forest and high pastures to the Khopra ridge (3640 m), where community lodges look straight across to Dhaulagiri. A highlight is the full-day excursion to the sacred Khayer (Kaire) Lake at 4660 m, a Hindu pilgrimage site tucked below Annapurna South. The trek finishes with a sunrise from Poon Hill before returning to Pokhara.
