Overview
Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nepal's lowlands, protects forests and grasslands that are home to the greater one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, sloth bear, gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles and more than 500 species of birds. This short safari from Kathmandu includes a jeep safari into the park, a canoe ride on the Rapti River, a guided jungle walk with a naturalist, a visit to the elephant breeding center and an evening of Tharu cultural dances in Sauraha. The best wildlife viewing is from October to March.
